Greetings!  I had a blast working in my craft room for Friday Night Sew-In all this past night; I will put together a post a little later today after I have had coffee and perhaps breakfast, of what I actually accomplished.  I was up in the middle of the night, could not sleep, so figure that since I was up, it was technically morning, I should go ahead to click the button for the winners of the traveling stash boxes!

Hey there, I have to admit that I was up late Friday night/morning working on my 4-patch blocks for Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street Mystery Quilt.  I haven't worked out exactly what I am using for the rest of the project.  I have been faithfully downloading each week's directions and trying not to look at them so I can be a little surprised.   I have seen quite  few of you working on different portions, but I have blacked out looking at other blogs for the weekend in hopes I can get far enough before I see the end of the mystery.  Anywho, I had to make a quick trip to the local Quilt shop to pick up my BOM for January and to pick up the Easy Angle Ruler to make my blocks for Easy Street!    I will add in my pictures of the 4-patches in the next few days when I actually get them completed, lol.

Congratulations!  The two charm packs will get sent out this week (probably on Monday cause I will be right next to the mailroom at the school).  Thanks for all those who answered my question about the soundtrack for their lifestory film!  Its one of my favorite childhood questions to ask those strangers I wasn't supposed to be talking to!!

My 200th Blog Post!

You Don't Say...

And so so we enter my third day of silence. Kind of hard for a girl who likes to talk and has a very talkative daughter who probably thinks I am ignoring her!  Anywho...

I also want to show you the items I chose from winning a $15 gift certificate to Quilt Taffy from Jane's Fabrics and Quilts a couple months ago.  I took quite a bit of time to choose what I wanted from their Etsy Shop.  I finally decided on this pattern called On a Whim and a Cuzco Charm pack.  You should also check out their blog called Taffy Talk which has lots of great ideas shared by 2 sisters, Corrie and Des.  I received these items super quick--once I made up my mind of course, lol.  I plan to use the quilt pattern to teach one of my closest friends how to make a quilt.  I was attracted to it because she is obsessed with snowflakes; she is from Alaska and moved to Texas too!

A Block of the Month finishing party, what a brilliant idea!  It's kind of convoluted how I found this group, but I just love the idea and I think it just might work for me.  Groups and linky parties are what get me going on my projects.  I mean I try to plan and block off time to work on my projects but it takes a little peer pressure to get things done sometimes to be honest.  My goal this next week is to get caught up with the Women's right to Vote Block of the Week.  I am finding many of the blocks a challenge to me, but its good for me.  Total, I am a part of 3 BOM (2 online and 1 at a local quilt shop) and 1 BOW.  My ultimate goal is to catch up of course, but that is so hard to do!

The Test Block Table Runner Back

The Legacy Sampler BOM at The Old Craft Store has a monetary value to it.  If you bring the completed quilt block back on the designated Saturday (using the fabric provided) you get the next block for free.  So at the end I will have paid $5 for the club, gotten 12 blocks free and then I prepaid for the last 4-blocks needed for the quilt top.  They have a finishing kits too, but I plan to put my blocks on point and use some fabric from Connecting Threads to make a quilt for a family member for next year's Christmas.  My plans are to do a test block in the Martinique fabric line (I have a bit from several Moda Scrap Bags) so that I will end up with all the blocks for 2 quilt tops by the end of the BOM Club!  This time I made a few test blocks that I turned into a table runner which will end up as somebody's Christmas present!

The Dot Explosion (Dots D9)

Today is my Day to post what I came with for the theme "Dots on Dots" in either 10.5 or 12.5 in Squares.  I was so excited when this theme was announced.  I had so many different directions that I could have gone; I kept sketching and scheming with many projects in my mind.

Dots on my Little Dot

I don't know what exactly happened but I definitely had dots on the brain this week!  The funny part was I actually didn't realize it until I was reading Jane's Post.  I was quite proud that I had not bought Dot fabric this past weekend, just some backing fabric for my City Weekend Project.  <Sigh> And then I took another look at the fabric and it was a light blue dot fabric on a darker blue background.  I also started to notice that all my fabric choices this week while "shopping" my fabric stash has had dots on it like these two blouses I am working on for my little Darling!

DOT-Shund

My Husband came up with this idea of making a Dachshund dog out of dots, he was excited about being so clever so he gets an extra 1,000 points for giving me the idea--the points don't really mean anything.  It's just a fun thing we picked up from Whose Line Is It Anyways? (which is an American TV Show).  It's a good idea though it did not go anywhere, but it was great to have my husband try to participate!

Dotted Stars

I loved this paper-piecing block project as soon as I saw it.  If it wasn't for the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop I would not have had the courage to go into projects involving paper-piecing.  I cannot for the life of me remember where I got the pattern for this block besides somebody's blog (As soon as I can figure it out I will give credit!).  I have 3 more blocks that I plan to make into another baby quilt, pillow cover or wall hanging perhaps.  My First paper-piecing project had been the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop project (Another SEW We Quilt Blog Hop).

Wonky Pinwheels

I tried to make HST using the new-fangled "sew on the outside of a square on square" method, but no matter how careful I am, I seem to end up a little off.  I decided to use that to my advantage and purposefully make my pinwheels wonky this time!  Wonky blocks are new to me since I first took part in the Wonky House Block Exchange earlier this year.  My original idea was to make a larger block of 4 blocks with sashing that would make the blocks alternate but I went on auto-pilot and ended up sewing the wrong sashing and so this is where the project ended up!  Nice straight rows with lots of dots--even the white fabric has dots printed on it!

I also ended up swiping a couple wonky pinwheel blocks to make this quick little table runner in Purples & Greens.

SR/WIP-2012-W1: The Amazing Race and Fabric Glee!

Hello New Year!
Santa was very good to me this year...I received a box with 48 beautiful fat quarter cuts of basics (12 yards of fabric) from Connecting Threads for Christmas.  I wish it did not sound so dorky to say that I have spent a lot of time this week petting a box of fabric, but I have.  How will I ever be able to cut into it?!  This may take some time, just like it took me 4 months to cut into my Grand Finale Fat quarter pack, and even now I hesitate to use the fabric.  I am hoping to change that this year and do some serious cut backs on my fabric stash by making whatever I can make in around caring for Ziona.

The amazing race to finish projects is well under way!  I am expecting Ziona to come some time in the next 0-60 days and boy is there a lot to do!  Yes, I am taking breaks and being bossy from the couch on more than one occasion, but I am putting in a little time in the sewing room as well.  I do have some larger projects I would love to get finished, but my eyes are mostly on the small ones I can do and get off my list.  My last WIP list was pushed into the "WIP Pit of Despair" (also known as my UFO list) on my 2011 End Year report.  Has it stopped me form starting new projects? Of course not!

My Goals for this week:
1)  Iron & organize fabrics that have no home yet and get them folded into my Stash
2)  Finish hand-stitching the binding on the Modern Pinwheel Twist Quilt
3)  Finish hand-stitching the bindings on my Valentine's Day projects (4 total)
4)  Continue to grow Ziona (ie. "rest" while doing #1- #3, possibly #5).
5)  If I have time, I am hoping to tackle these 4 placemats...

I've decided these will be placemats; thinking about adding vinyl to the multi-colored set
