UFO/WIP 2

Hello There!  I have advanced on my Projects this week and boy am I HAPPY!!!  I am truly delighted by how the Soaked & Hello Sunshine Crib Quilts are turning out.  I can't say enough how much I am in love with these two lines.  And handling it is a dream compared to many other fabrics.  I am hoping to be completely done by the end of the week and then we are on to the rest of my list.

And the Winner is...

Hey there, I have to admit that I was up late Friday night/morning working on my 4-patch blocks for Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street Mystery Quilt.  I haven't worked out exactly what I am using for the rest of the project.  I have been faithfully downloading each week's directions and trying not to look at them so I can be a little surprised.   I have seen quite  few of you working on different portions, but I have blacked out looking at other blogs for the weekend in hopes I can get far enough before I see the end of the mystery.  Anywho, I had to make a quick trip to the local Quilt shop to pick up my BOM for January and to pick up the Easy Angle Ruler to make my blocks for Easy Street!    I will add in my pictures of the 4-patches in the next few days when I actually get them completed, lol.

Oh and I need to pick a winner from Random.org:

#5 was chosen who said:

Congratulations on 200, Shanna. Who knew how much fun blogging would be?

Great question. I would have to say mine would be "These are a Few of My Favorite Things".

Congratulations!  The two charm packs will get sent out this week (probably on Monday cause I will be right next to the mailroom at the school).  Thanks for all those who answered my question about the soundtrack for their lifestory film!  Its one of my favorite childhood questions to ask those strangers I wasn't supposed to be talking to!!

See you tomorrow!

Stash Report Saturday: Scrap Challenge 2013

I feel a bit ashamed of myself.

I wasn't doing so bad with my stash-busting until the latter quarter of 2012.  I did not accomplish nearly as many projects as I started either.  So here I am sitting here, looking at the figures from 2012, which look better than they could have because of a 2-week mad-dash to complete some projects in mid-December.  But the figures still do not look that great to me.  I feel even worse after reading a past post on Bonnie's Quitville's Quips & Snips written about 7.5 years ago that kind of hit me hard at the knees.

And so here I am starting back over a year later trying not to buy more than I need and to use up my stash as much as possible.  I talked it over with my husband to be committed to this de-stashing this year.  I do plan to buy some yardage of solids because I plan to use these  fabrics for backgrounds and sashing to tie together my very, very random collection of fabrics. However, to keep things from becoming too crowded and over-whelming in our apartment (and to control costs as well) I am going to plan out my purchases a little more wisely before I order next time.  I am also committed to  putting together project kits of what I already have before I order more fabric.  WIP's/UFO's are going to get done in January! And finally before I start anything else, I need to de-clutter and organize my crafting space a little more wisely.  You will see posts about this project within the next couple of weeks, as we have been working on this very task this week!

Here is my Stash Report through 01/04/2013:
Used This Week:  2 1/8 yards
Used year to Date: 2 1/8 yards
Added This Week:  0 yards
Added Year to Date: 0 yards
Net Used for 2013: +2 1/8 yards

Thanks again for stopping by and you shall see me tomorrow!

Finishes 1

Greetings!  I have completed what started out as the "summer Games Quilt" into a little Table Topper.  Its not much of a finish this week, but I have been mainly trying to fit in the 2 Crib Quilts I have been working on for the past month or so.  I am so excited how much I am advancing on that project.  I will post some updated photos on Sunday and then hopefully next Friday I will have them finished to share with you!

Getting it Done 2013: January

Greetings!  I am getting things organized over here and boy do I like making lists!!  I saw Judy's POST about listmaking and I thought this would be a an excellent idea to join up. You list the 4 things you want to accomplish for the month.  It kind of reminds me of what Madame at Sew We Quilt said about accomplishing one's goals.  You give yourself a short list and you are more likely to get it done.

So Getting it Done:

1.  Sugar Block Club, Block 1
2.  Craftsy BOM, Block 1
3.  Legacy Sampler, BOM Block 4
4.  Complete Soaked Crib Quilt
5.  Complete Hello Sunshine Crib Quilt

I hope to:

1. Start and finish Easy Street Mystery Quilt Top
2.  Make Ziona's Birthday Dress

Really Random Thursday

So my new phone has some very fun features on it like panoramic photo options.  I thought I would share with you my crafting space as in a hopefully before picture since we are supposed to be rearranging furniture this weekend.  Anywho, I noticed some fun randomness to share while Baby is napping and I thought I'd share the features of my current layout.

Elmo Guards the alarm clock, along with baby wipe pack #1
The Bed is one of the current places to show larger quilts (also Livingroom floor and cutting table
Fold-out Cutting Table is where the cutting, ironing and photoing mainly happen.

The Sewing area/desk/nightstand, it is rare for this area to look so good, but I am preparing everything to start the FMQ on the 2 Crib Quilts as well as hand-sew the binding onto them.  Hopefully they will be complete b y next week!
Thanks for stopping by my really random Thursday!

Stash- End of Year Report

[Updated 01/01/2013:  I forgot to click the "Publish" button, so this one is posting a bit later than intended]

Greetings!  Here is my last stash report of the Season, not that great.  I am having high hopes for next year!
Serenade by Kate Spain

Not sure the lines of Fabric but purchased in Meade, Kansas at a little Quilt Shop there

The Serenade was my Christmas present.  I won a $15 Gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop by entering my finished Double-pointed Pinwheel Quilt @Richard & Tanya Quilt , they have a  Friday linky party for finishes.  I also just happened to hit the FQShop during their 20% off sale, plus the FQ set was a bit reduced already so Now I think I have my FQ set for the Sugar Block Club that Amy is doing this year for a BOM.

The Second picture is what I purchased for my MIL for Christmas, to make her a variety of Mini-quilts for the stand we purchased for her birthday last summer.  They will mostly be calender quilts using a book which I can't remember the name of at this present moment, but I'm sure you will hear more about it int he future!

Here is my Stash Report through 12/31/2012*:
Used last Week:  5 3/4 yards
Used year to Date: 83 1/2 yards
Added last Week: 10 1/2 yards
Added Year to Date: 87 3/4 yards
Net Used for 2012: -4 1/4 yards

Thanks again for stopping by and you shall see me tomorrow for the first of the year!!

*This is a rough estimate in the foggy haze of birth and all that.  I do remember getting a stash of fabric from some people moving out of my building in late April & my mother gave me fabric as well (some got passed on to others) but I had to guess at amounts.  I will be better about exact amounts from July onward.

Fast Forward: 2013

Happy New Year!  For half of the world you are already far into the first day of this new year.  As I write this post we are drifting off and will probably not make it to midnight ourselves, baby girl is fast asleep in her bed thankfully!

A New Year, A Fresh Start

So its a new year full of possibilities and promise.  I have a few goals for this new year.  I want to fill up the trunk in the photo to the right and use as much of the fabric I already have on hand as possible!  I want this to be the smallest amount of fabric purchased in my history!  I also want to come up with a plan so I am not tempted away by the lure of new projects or shiny fabrics!  Do you find yourself in a constant state of Wanting?  I was pretty convicted after reading Carin's POST @ Margaret's Hope Chest and so I have been thinking more about what attitude I want to have, which means some changes.

My Top 10 Goals for 2013

  1. Reduce Fabric purchases
  2. Increase completed projects
  3. Decrease Stagnant projects
  4. Sell some completed projects.
  5. Try New Things.
  6. Purge fabrics I will never use.
  7. Make Ziona's Quilt
  8. Make a Quilt for my Own Bed
  9. Enjoy the Process
  10. Enjoy Life

BOM's AWAY: The Old Craft Store BOM

Give A Hoot's BOM's Away Party
A Block of the Month finishing party, what a brilliant idea!  It's kind of convoluted how I found this group, but I just love the idea and I think it just might work for me.  Groups and linky parties are what get me going on my projects.  I mean I try to plan and block off time to work on my projects but it takes a little peer pressure to get things done sometimes to be honest.   Total, I am a part of 4 BOM (2 online, 1 by email, and 1 at a local quilt shop) and 1 BOW.  My ultimate goal is to catch up of course, but that is so hard to do!

The Legacy Sampler BOM at The Old Craft Store has a monetary value to it.  If you bring the completed quilt block back on the designated Saturday (using the fabric provided) you get the next block for free.  So at the end I will have paid $10 for the club (I forgot to pick up 1 block on time so had to pay $5 for the block), gotten 11 blocks free and then I prepaid for the last 4-blocks needed for the quilt top.  They have a finishing kits too, but I plan to put my blocks on point and use some fabric from Connecting Threads to make a quilt for a family member for next year's Christmas.  My plans are to do a test block in the Martinique fabric line (I have a bit from several Moda Scrap Bags) so that I will end up with all the blocks for 2 quilt tops by the end of the BOM Club!

The Old Craft Store The Legacy Sampler.  Star of Victory (December BOM,  or Block 3)

Test Blocks: Sorry the picture is a bit dark, I am still getting used to the new camera feature on my phone.

Recap for Past Blocks:
The Old Craft Store The Legacy Sampler.  A:  Woven Union,  B:  Courage at Pickett's Mill

Martinique Test Blocks The Legacy Sampler.  A:  Woven Union,  B:  Courage at Pickett's Mill
